Yonkers Police Beat - February 2010


YPD PatchOn 02/02/10 at approximately 10:44 a.m., 1st Precinct Police Officers Charlie Baker and Daniel Carpenter responded to 2478 Central Park Avenue (Best Buy) on a report of suspicious male possibly involved in a past larceny. At the scene, the officers were advised that a suspicious male inside of the store was possibly involved in a larceny of a video camera on 01/25/10. The officers approached the male and observed what appeared to be a folding knife protruding from his back pocket. Upon further investigation, the object was determined to be an anti-security device used to remove security alarms from valuable products. The officers then observed two new laptop computers valued at $1,600.00 inside of a vehicle belonging to the suspect. Investigation revealed that the two computers had been stolen from a Staples store in Greenwich Connecticut earlier in the day. The suspect was placed under arrest by the officers and subsequently transported to the City Jail.

  • Frederick Rogovsky, a 48 year old male who reports residing at 141 Summit Street in Bridgeport Connecticut, was booked for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree and Possession of Burglar’s Tools. He will be arraigned in Yonkers Criminal Court on 02-03-10.

YPD PatchOn 02/02/10 at approximately 1:04 a.m., members of the 4th Precinct responded to 286 Ashburton Avenue (Getty Gas Station) on a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, the responding officers observed a large amount of smoke coming from inside of the business. The fire was extinguished by Yonkers Fire Department personnel. Arson investigators responded to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Anyone with information can please call the Detective Division at 377-7724.


YPD PatchOn 02-01-10 at approximately 10:40 p.m., 3rd Precinct units responded to 380 Riverdale Avenue (Getty Gas Station) on a report of a menacing with a handgun. A 20 year old male from Putnam Valley and a 20 year old female Yonkers resident related that two black males wearing ski masks had pointed a gun at them after a verbal dispute. The males fled east on Culver Street towards Livingston Avenue. Responding units canvassed the area for the suspects, but they were not located. Both suspects were described as 6’ in height, with one suspect wearing a black jacket and the other suspect wearing a black jacket with a grey hooded sweatshirt.
